Happy April and Happy Spring! You can feel the happiness as you walk the hallways.
This past month, students had a break in their normal school day to participate in two PTA sponsored events. For Kindergarten it was a Candyland Theme with Bingo, Cup Stacking and Candy Jar decorating. They had a great time! Our 1st Graders had some fun “Under the Big Top”. They also played Bingo, stacked sponges and decorated their own circus tent. A huge thank you to Stephanie Leondis-Cohen for all her planning and preparation to make these sessions happen. Thank you to all the parent volunteers who came in to join in the fun- Kristian Blum, Ali Calame, Christin Dirkes, Kazandra Gross and Lauren Sbeglia.
Our Family Fun Committee hosted two Candyland Dances on March 7th (Kindergarten) and March 15th (1st Grade). Our students were entertained by a fantastic DJ and enjoyed pizza and sweet treats as they left. It was a great opportunity for the students and their parents to connect.
Thank you to all the parents who made this possible. The Locust Multipurpose room was transformed into a true Candyland. Our Family Fun Chair, Victoria Diaz, was instrumental in making this happen! It would not have been possible without assistance from Kristian Blum, Maria Olivieri, Tara Reilly, Jen Williams, Rebecca Gallaro, Rosemarie Fusco, Christian Boesen and Leana Varrone. Thank you to our friends at Stewart School who shared many of the decorations used from the Willy Wonka show for us to use at the dance.
If you haven’t already done so, please remember to order your school supplies for NEXT school year. Please share this link with any incoming Kindergarten friends that are entering the district, and enter code GAR054 to shop. The deadline to order is April 12th.
The PTA Dinner was a tremendous success! Thank you to all who came and all who donated! This is such an important event that benefits our children and schools. It is so incredible to see the outpouring of support and generosity from the community to make this event the amazing tradition that it is.
We will be having our Staff Appreciation Luncheon on May 3rd. Please look out for a SignUpGenius that will have ways you can support the luncheon.
As always, thank you all so very much for your support to the Garden City PTA!
Warmly,
Meaghan Hurley
Locust PTA Director
Here are the upcoming events for Locust Families:
PTA meetings offers a valuable opportunity to interact with other parents, hear from a school teacher or principal, and learn up-to-date information. Parents can ask questions and start to build relationships with parents, teachers and school administrators. You can share ideas, concerns, and experiences. Come join us!
