Happy May! Hope all of you enjoyed your spring break. We look forward to a month of sunshine and outdoor recess!
Locust sure looks ready for the spring! Thank you to our Beautification Committee lead by Catherine Griffing. The committee cleaned up a bit and added lovely floral touches to the exterior of our school. Our students are welcomed with the beautiful colors each morning. It wouldn’t have been possible without assistance from Kristian Blum, Stephanie Leondis-Cohen, Victoria Diaz and Maria Oliveri.
Congratulations to all of the Locust Reflections winners. They were recognized at the District-wide Awards Ceremony last month. It was a very special night for these talented students.
On May 3rd the PTA hosted the Annual Locust Staff Appreciation Luncheon for the amazing teachers and staff. It’s such a wonderful way to show our appreciation for all of their hard work. Thank you to our GCPTA Staff Appreciation chairs, Gina Donovan & Alison Volpe, and to our Locust Staff Appreciation chair, Ali Calame. The luncheon would not be possible without all the generous donations from all of our parents. A big thank you to all of you!
The Spring Sing is around the corner; it will be held on May 14th. Keep an eye out for more details from your classroom teacher. This is always a favorite among both students and families. Dress your child in their best spring attire and be ready to take some pictures! Thank you to Mrs. Glickman for her hard work and preparation. Please remember to bring your ID! Each class will have a small celebration in their classrooms following their performance. This celebration will be approximately 20 minutes long. TWO FAMILY MEMBERS PER FAMILY are allowed to go back to the classroom. There will be a drink and snack available. Please keep an eye out for additional information from your class parents.
The Board of Education Election & Budget Vote will be held on May 21st from 6am-9pm @ GCHS. The PTA supports voting “Yes!” for the budget. Please see the main PTA newsletter for more information about the upcoming vote.
Warmly,
Meaghan Hurley
