First things first! Congratulation to the new incoming HS PTA Director - Joyce Turner! Joyce will begin her term on July 1st. Joyce has been an amazing Assistant Director the last two years and has also been our Secretary! Her help and guidance were greatly appreciated. I wish her well. I know she will do a great job;) Please be sure to reach out to Joyce to congratulate her and to see how you can help.

Are you ready for JUNE? Coming this month - PTA/SEPTA Senior Awards, Pre-Prom Event (Co-sponsors - HS and PTA), Graduation Practice/Senior Breakfast, Graduation Reception (Co-sponsors GCTA, PTA), and that is just what PTA is involved in the calendar is filled with HS dates.

Note: There will also be three evening District-wide “All Schools” PTA Meetings where HS Updates will be given.

Volunteer Spotlight - Thank you!

Thank you volunteers!  Whether you gave a hour of your time or many hours - THANK YOU! Any time you gave was greatly appreciated!

Thank you to our Staff Appreciation committee, Beth Spirakis and Tricia Schettino on organizing a wonderful luncheon!

Thank you Student Volunteer Corp (SVC) volunteers who helped out at the School Supplies distribution on June 1st - Charles, Brian, Owen, Victoria, Julia, Cassidy, Giovanna and Enzo!

Thank you to the Prom-a-palooza Team - Nicole Archer, Peggy Feron, Donna Flood, Cynthia George, Ande Giarraputo, Dorie Mehling, Alison Metzler, Kerri Ann McElroy, Tina Palmer, Maria Studdert, Joyce Turner. Special Thank you to Ande Giarraputo for creating new decorations!

Thank you to the entire HS PTA Board! Each of you have done an amazing job!  I am so thankful for the time you have given and the opportunity to work with each of you:)

OPEN POSITIONS

DONATIONS needed Prom-a-palooza and Graduation Sign Up Genius

Prom-a-palooza - The committee is busy planning this event and needs the help of the entire High School community to make this event a success and a special experience for our seniors and their families.  

Graduation events -  A few items are also needed for these events.

Volunteers - Needed for the following:

  • Decorations - Monday, June 24th from 5:00pm - 7:30pm
  • Food prep - Tuesday, June 25th from 5:00pm - 8:00pm

HS General School Supplies by Department

Thank you to the Curriculum Coordinators for working with us to provide a general list of needed items to help students and parents prepare before the start of the school year!

Please visit the HS PTA website to see the lists of basic supplies to get your student started in the 2019-2020 school year. Hopefully this will help you stay away from STAPLES for the the first couple weeks of school:) HS School Supply Lists

Senior Parents - Mark you calendar

  • Information for all events can be found on the HS Website - Information for the Senior Class and on the PTA HS Webpage - Senior Parents Important Dates and Info
  • Make sure your child completed and turned in the “College Results for Class of 2019” form to Guidance
  • Senior Yearbooks - Please note if your student was not in school on Friday, they may pick up their book periods 2 or 6 on Monday, June 3rd in the yearbook office.
  • June 3 - 6:30PM GAA/BAA Senior Athletic Awards Banquet
  • June 6 - 7 PM High School Senior Awards Ceremony in Auditorium
  • June 14 - Senior Class Trip
  • TMA - Father/Daughter and Mother/Son dinners at Nassau County Bar Association
    • Father/Daughter: Friday, June 21st from 6:30 -10pm
    • Mother/Son: Saturday, June 22nd from 6:30 - 10pm
  • June 25 - 6PM High School/PTA Pre-Prom Event
  • June 25 - 8PM High School Senior Prom at The Garden City Hotel
  • June 26 - 9AM Mandatory Graduation Rehearsal & Senior Breakfast
  • June 29 - 10AM High School Graduation
  • June 29 - 11:30AM GCTA/PTA Graduation Reception

Incoming 9th Grade Parents - Welcome to GC High School!

We look forward to meeting and seeing you in September!  

Mark your calendar - Freshman Orientation and Freshman Photo Day is tentatively set for Tuesday, August 27th. All students must have their picture taken at Freshman Orientationf for their HS ID card. (Dates will be finalized in late June)

Watch for information about Freshman BBQ which is tentatively scheduled to be held in early October.  This is a very popular event and a great way to start their career at GCHS. Long Island Gay PTSA  

General Meeting on Tuesday, June 18 at 7-8:30pm at LGBT Network’s new Hauppauge LGBT Center located at 125 Kennedy Drive, Suite 100 in Hauppauge.  Since it was such a hit last time, we will also have our pre-meeting Mixer at the Café in the lobby of the Hauppauge LGBT Center at 6:30pm. The meeting will begin promptly at 7pm. Hello Long Island Gay PTSA!
