Help cover the cost of shipping - Mrs. Fleming and a few other teachers are organizing a book drive for a GC Alumni who is trying to build up his school's library in New Orleans.  Help is needed to cover the cost of shipping the books.  If you would like to help please contact Mrs. Fleming flemingn@gcufsd.net

Students Helping Students - Advisor - Ms. Whiston
Students Helping Students is collecting winter donations for the Mary Brennan Inn.  We are collecting new or gently used hats, scarves and gloves.  Brand new underwear, socks, and kids pajamas.  Students are asked to bring all donated items to the box located at the Merillon Ave. entrance by Monday, December 10th.

Italian Club and Italian Honor Society - New Advisor - Ms. Cardilicchia
The Italian Club will begin our Christmas tree decorating event with members (a new tradition) and continue to decorate over the next 2 weeks and make our own ornaments. Our upcoming bake sale funds will be used to purchase gift cards for the 'Adopt-a-Family' program we have here at GCHS. 

Latin Club - Advisor - Magistra Durkin
Latin Club will once again host its annual Saturnalia banquet of food, fun, and games. The event will take place in the GCHS Library on Friday, December 7 from 5-8pm. $2 admission until Dec. 6, $5 admission day of (Dec. 7). See Magistra Durkin for details!

Class 2021 -
Advisor - Ms. Moss
The Class of 2021 will be placing Class Ring orders with the Jostens representative on Thursday, Dec 13 and Friday Dec 14 outside the cafeteria.  This year, if students purchase a Class Ring, they will get a GCHS jacket.  Please contact Mrs. Moss for details.

Intramural Quiz Bowl Tournament - Advisor - Mr. O'Hagan
On January 2nd we will begin sign-ups for the Intramural Quiz Bowl Tournament.
Applications can be picked up outside of Room 138 in the Social Studies wing. 

What is Intramural Quiz Bowl?
Intramural Quiz Bowl returns for its 23rd season!
  For newcomers (or those who have forgotten) this is a tournament that is conducted after school with teams composed of one teacher/ staff member and three students.  Meets will consist of 100 trivia questions on a variety of subjects and last for approximately one hour. There are three qualifying roundsbefore the Semifinals.  The top NINE teams will qualify for Semifinals and the three teams that win their Semifinal round will go to the Finals.

February Activities, Collections/Drives

Fashion Club - Advisor - Ms. McKinstry
Fashion Club will work with Long Island Volunteer Center on their annual prom and formal dress donation drive to benefit teenage girls in need of dresses for prom and other events, such as graduation.  We have been involved for several years and it's a wonderful cause.  Our drive will start in February and end in April. 

The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) - Advisor - Ms. McKinstry
The Future Business Leaders of America will have a sneaker drive in the spring to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.  FBLA has participated in a sneaker drive the past 2 years.  The drive will begin in February and end in April.
