Notes and Announcements from the Director ...

Dear Stewart School Families,
Happy New Year!  It has been a busy end to 2011 with the holiday celebrations and wonderful winter concert!  The children and teachers have done a great job and we are anticipating many exciting things in the second part of the school year at Stewart School. 
As we tearfully said goodbye to Mrs. Bliss at the end of December we wish her well in her retirement. 
The Holiday Craft Fair was a major success.  Special thanks to the committee and parent volunteers that made it all happen for the children. 
The children were very happy with our first Pizza Friday Lunch and we look forward to the next one scheduled in January.  These special activities will help provide for our school's 75th Anniversary celebration.  We appreciate your support. 
Please mark your calendars for the Joint Principal's Forum scheduled on January 26th at 9:15 am in the Stratford School.  We will have an informative presentation on the Common Core Learning Standards by Dr. Teresa Prendergast, Asst. Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction and the building principals from the elementary and primary schools.  Learn about this very important topic.  The new Common Core Learning Standards will outline what our children will be expected to know.  Parents will find out how our district will align the curriculum to meet these standards and how it will change instruction.
