January 3, 2018 at the Garden City Middle School (Students Only)

Ms. Schumacher will be giving a presentation to students in Grades 6-8 at the Garden City Middle School.  Her Don't Press Send program teaches today's youths to "think mindfully about their choices, both on social media and in life" and to "take a deep breath and to pause before they post".

Parent University, February 1st 7:00 - 9:15 PM

Parent University is an evening set-aside for parents and caregivers of children in grades Pre-K to 12 to participate in a series of workshops facilitated by area professionals and district personnel. The free workshops are sponsored by community organizations, including educators, to best reflect current topics and trends. It is an opportunity to sharpen parents’ skills as we work together to raise healthy, well-adjusted, and successful children. Studies prove when communities, caregivers, and educators work together to create supportive and safe environments for children to grow and learn – they thrive.

Registration will be online only and will begin January 3rd. Childcare will be available for children ages 4 to 12.

Steve Dodge, S.L.A.T.E Project, Saving Lives from Addiction, 7:00 PM March 22nd

Educating our youth is the first and primary goal of the S.L.A.T.E. Project. The S.L.A.T.E. Project was created to reach out to members of our community in a personal manner by providing first-hand experiences regarding drugs and alcohol. One of the first priorities is to arm our youth with knowledge, give them tools, and resources so when they are faced with difficult decisions, they will already have the skills necessary to make decisions with confidence. Following this, the S.L.A.T.E. Project aims to supply our community with awareness as an essential part of encouraging healthy living.

Steve and his mother Lori will speak to parents and their children in an evening presentation. For more information visit www.theslateproject.org.
